Crystals That Don’t Work

“I Aligned My Chakras. She Aligned with Kyle.”

When Ryan Delaney’s marriage hit a rough patch, he turned not to therapy or communication–but to a $200 amethyst chunk from a crystal dealer named “Vortex Glen.” He placed it under his bed, whispered affirmations, and wore a moon-charged rose quartz in his sock. His wife, Marissa, left two weeks later with their couples’ therapist, who also sells dreamcatchers and paddleboards.

“Glen said the amethyst would absorb my negativity,” Ryan explained. “Instead, I absorbed a legal separation.”

He also tried citrine for optimism, black tourmaline for protection, and something called “Emotionite” that turned out to be a shiny driveway rock. Nothing worked.

Marissa, meanwhile, claims the marriage was “not spiritually bankrupt, just emotionally overdrafted.” She and Kyle (the Reiki guy) now run a YouTube channel about “polyamorous meridian travel.”

Ryan has started his own competing blog: *Quartz and Divorce,* where he reviews crystals for effectiveness and passive-aggressively quotes his ex-wife’s astrology posts.

Experts say Ryan’s story is common. “Crystals work best when paired with self-awareness, communication, and not being a doormat in geode form,” said Dr. Felicia Targ, relationship therapist and part-time wand carver.

Ryan remains hopeful. “I’m trying moldavite next. If it doesn’t bring her back, maybe it’ll summon an alien therapist.”

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
