Public Proposal Rejections
“He Thought It Was Romantic. She Thought It Was Hostage Theater.”
When Brandon Dunlop proposed to his girlfriend Tara during a choreographed flash mob at the Cinnabon-adjacent end of a suburban mall, he expected applause and maybe a promotional discount. What he got was a dramatic pause, a shaky “We need to talk,” and several teenagers slow-clapping in confusion.
“She looked like she wanted to evaporate,” said a bystander. “And then the pretzel guy just yelled, ‘Well this is awkward!'”
Witnesses report that Tara sprinted out of the mall mid-conga line, leaving behind a bouquet of churros and a mascot holding the ring box in a giant foam hand.
The flash mob dancers, unsure what to do, launched into *Single Ladies* out of reflex, causing three nearby couples to begin spontaneous arguments.
Brandon has since been offered a deal to appear on a reality show called *Almost Married America* and sells “Heartbreak Pretzels” from a mobile cart.
The mall now bans musical proposals unless pre-approved by Security and a licensed couples counselor.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
