Burnt Kale Chips

“We Were Going for Crunchy, Not Chernobyl.”

When fitness influencer Jade Delacroix popped a tray of kale chips into her oven and then got distracted recording a tutorial on how to spiritually exfoliate with almond flour, she had no idea she was about to create what scientists are calling a “previously unknown crispy isotope.” The charred remains, which fused into a flaky black shard resistant to light, moisture, and accountability, are now being studied by NASA and four different seasoning brands.

“I thought they just got a little extra crispy,” Jade said, as her smoke alarm screamed for justice and a neighbor filed a noise complaint against her oven. “I didn’t realize I’d created dark matter with a vitamin K aftertaste.”

According to witnesses–and Instagram Live–the chips began to hum at minute 23. By minute 28, her kitchen thermometer read “LOL” and the tray glowed faintly with what one follower called “judgmental heat.”

Jade posted a series of stories titled *Kale Fail* in which she taste-tested the fragments. “It was like licking a charcoal ghost,” she said, before trying to market it as “Ash Raw Superfood.” Her online store now lists it at $89.99 per ounce under the brand name *Kälcium™.*

Nutritionists are baffled. “It has zero calories because it no longer exists on this plane,” said Dr. Ivan Mealey, professor of Food-Based Anomalies. “But it emits enough energy to warm a small raccoon. It’s not food–it’s philosophy.”

Jade, who once sold tea made from rehydrated quinoa breath, insists the new chip is part of a “post-nutritional movement,” where food exists not to nourish the body, but to challenge the ego. “If you feel fear before eating it, you’re on the right path.”

Social media is split. TikTok challenges have popped up encouraging users to try the chip while staring into a mirror. Side effects include time dilation, judgment from vegans, and subtle telepathy.

The Food Network declined to comment, but sources say Guy Fieri has requested a sample for testing in his Flavor Lab. “It might be the Flavortown apocalypse,” said one lab tech.

Jade’s original oven has since been declared “haunted” and donated to a performance art group that plans to cook “existential lasagna” inside it during Burning Man. The remaining kale fragments are stored in a lead-lined mason jar labeled “Do Not Eat Unless You’ve Transcended.”

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
