Viral Facebook Drama
“She Cropped Her Out, Then Drew a Dog Where She Used to Be.”
What began as a wholesome family BBQ ended in digital disaster when Aunt Linda posted a group photo to Facebook–but not before photoshopping out Uncle Jeff’s new wife, Shelly, and replacing her with a clip-art golden retriever named “Lucky.”
“I just thought the composition looked better without her face,” Linda explained while sipping iced tea and fanning herself with a church bulletin.
The edited image sparked 118 comments, six unfriending events, and one cousin publicly declaring neutrality with a meme of Kermit sipping tea captioned, “Not my circus, not my dog.”
Shelly responded with a collage of passive-aggressive baking photos and a caption reading, “Some people crop. Others rise like sourdough.”
Family factions formed quickly. Team Linda accused Shelly of “overseasoning the potato salad” and “dancing too aggressively to Pitbull.” Team Shelly fired back with screenshots from 2009 proving Linda once brought store-bought coleslaw to a “homemade-only” event.
The image has since been remixed into memes, TikToks, and a bootleg t-shirt sold at the flea market. The shirt reads: “Free Shelly (And Lucky).”
The family group chat has been locked, and next year’s reunion is now scheduled in “a neutral parking lot behind the Cracker Barrel.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
