Are there any guidelines for user comments?
Ah, the comments section — the digital campfire where geniuses, trolls, grammar snobs, and emotionally unstable philosophy majors gather to shout into the void. At Bohiney.com, we welcome comments. But we also curate them like an angry librarian with a sword.
We’re a satire site, not a therapy session for Facebook refugees. So yes, we have comment guidelines, and we enforce them with a combination of wit, moderation, and occasional passive-aggressive memes.
🧾 The Golden Rules of Bohiney Commenting
-
Don’t Be a Jerk
Satire attracts a lot of passionate people. But if you show up ranting about lizard people or calling someone a “soy-brained clown puppet,” you’re getting deleted faster than your crypto gains. -
Engage with the Joke
If you don’t get the joke, ask questions. But don’t claim we’re “spreading misinformation” when we post something like
➡️ “Florida Declares Abstract Thought Illegal Until Further Notice”
That’s obviously fake. But it’s also emotionally true. Big difference. -
Respect the Writers
Our authors spend hours crafting satire like “AI Therapist Sparks Mass Existential Crisis”. If your only comment is “not funny,” try harder. We do. -
No Hate Speech. Ever.
Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, fatphobia, or weaponized astrology will not be tolerated. That includes passive-aggressive emojis. -
Stay on Topic (Mostly)
If the article is about GSA pancake breakfasts, don’t derail the thread with your libertarian manifesto. Or do, but expect us to parody you in a future post like:
➡️ “School Board Accidentally Bans Sandwiches After Confusing LGBTQ With BLT”
🧙♂️ Who Moderates?
We do. Specifically:
-
Two interns who fear nothing
-
A political science professor with a decade of tenure and zero tolerance for idiots
Sometimes we respond in the comments. Sometimes we screenshot the wildest takes and post them on Slack as digital cautionary tales.
🧠 Why Do We Moderate?
Because comment sections shape community. And ours is one where smart, funny, critical people can engage in actual discourse—without being drowned out by bots, trolls, or people trying to sell herbal brain paste.
We want our satire to spark discussion. But not if the discussion turns into a flaming bag of rage left on the doorstep of civil society.
💌 Want to Say Something Constructive?
Please do! We love it when readers add:
-
Extra punchlines
-
Historical context
-
Personal stories
-
The occasional “This made me rethink NATO and also laugh out loud in a bank lobby”
If it’s smart and/or funny, we’ll pin it. If it’s hostile and repetitive, we’ll send it to the professor’s “Digital Graveyard of Regret.”
Be funny. Be kind. Be weird — but not weirdly cruel.
Comments are welcome. Just don’t be the reason we install a CAPTCHA that asks “Are you emotionally stable?”
