Infant Sleeps in Box While Critics Call It “Bold Statement on Fragility”
Local dad Trevor Hall thought he was following step-by-step directions from BabySmart Furniture when he realized he had inadvertently built a six-foot-tall rotating sculpture titled “Sleep Anxiety in Walnut Finish.”
“There were so many pieces,” Trevor said, staring into a pile of leftover screws. “At one point I thought I was building a ziggurat. Or maybe a protest installation?”
When his wife entered the nursery, she found the crib spinning slowly, making ambient whirring noises, and adorned with what appeared to be a baby monitor duct-taped to a dreamcatcher.
BabySmart responded with a tweet: “Assembly is part of the bonding process. If you’ve created art instead of furniture, congratulations–you’re parenting with flair.”
Local art critics were impressed. The piece, now titled “Womb 2.0,” was moved to the town’s modern art gallery, where it has been described as “deeply disorienting, yet oddly soothing.”
The baby now sleeps in a laundry basket lined with hypoallergenic towels and is reportedly thriving. “He doesn’t cry anymore,” said Trevor. “He just stares at the sculpture like it’s the void.”
In unrelated news, Trevor has been nominated for a grant by the National Endowment for the Arts. The category? Accidental Genius.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
