Kevin Costner Refuses to Take Off Cowboy Hat, Joins Turtles Cast Anyway

Kevin Costner, fresh off his Yellowstone exit and seven-part Civil War miniseries, has officially joined the Ninja Turtles reboot. But only under one condition: he would not, under any circumstances, remove his cowboy hat.

Producers initially balked, but Costner allegedly stared silently at a cactus for three hours until they relented. “He’s not acting,” said a crew member. “He’s just being Cowboy Hat now.”

Costner plays Sheriff Turnbuckle, a retired rancher who becomes a father figure to the Turtles after rescuing them from a sewer flood with his emotional horse. He does not fight, but delivers long, whispered monologues about land, water rights, and family values in 4:3 aspect ratio.

His scenes include a dramatic standoff with Shredder at a barn-turned-sewer access tunnel. Shredder wears a poncho. No one explains why.

Critics call Costner’s presence “intense, confusing, and oddly comforting.”

In an interview with Turtle Digest, Costner said, “I don’t know what this is, but I reckon it’s cinema.”
