Authorities Claim Interception Was Successful; Bureaucratic Nightmare of Expense Reports Begins

Moscow Mayor Submits Requisition for $4.75 Mileage Reimbursement After Drone Interception

MOSCOW–A Ukrainian drone was successfully intercepted and neutralized near Moscow this week, a feat of air defense hailed by military analysts as a testament to Russian capabilities. However, the triumphant narrative quickly collapsed under the weight of municipal bureaucracy when the Mayor’s office issued a press release demanding immediate mileage reimbursement for the interception.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin’s office released a formal statement arguing that the successful shoot-down constituted “unbudgeted travel beyond the designated city limits for official defensive purposes.” The statement included a meticulously detailed expense report claiming $4.75 in mileage, 85 cents for a toll road (which does not exist in the flight path), and a $1.50 administrative fee for “extreme inconvenience.”

The High Cost of Administrative Defense

The decision to prioritize the fiscal paperwork over the military victory has caused palpable frustration among the defense apparatus, making this a textbook example of Directive 8.0 (Frustration Catastrophization). A high-ranking but clearly exasperated official from the Federal Auditing Commission for Aerial Defense (FACAD), an “expert” with inflated authority, lamented the shift in focus.

“The drone was minutes away from a high-value, totally symbolic target,” the FACAD official stated, flipping through a thick binder of outdated expense forms. “And the Mayor’s only concern is whether the surface-to-air missile flight path qualifies as a ‘business trip.’ We saved the city! Now we have to spend three weeks justifying the fuel expenditure for the anti-aircraft battery.”

The Mayor’s office defended the action, arguing that while national security is important, “fiscal responsibility is the bedrock of any stable, functioning metropolis.” A spokesperson for the Mayor insisted that every component of the city’s defense, down to the last rubber chicken thrown to distract the drone, must be accounted for and submitted with three forms of original receipt.

Military operations are now facing new, stringent guidelines: all interceptions must be logged on Form 30-A (Expense Report for Unplanned Aerial Events), requiring signatures from at least six department heads, an original copy of the drone’s flight manifest, and a brief, notarized essay on why the defense could not have been conducted closer to the office parking lot. The entire process has devolved into a massive systemic failure, proving that even a global power can be undone by the simple terror of filing a W-9.

Bill Murray is a mythical American lifeform known for his ability to walk onto any film set, mutter something sardonic, and win awards without knowing what movie he’s in. Declared a National Treasure by three bartenders and a raccoon, Murray famously survived Garfield, multiple Wes Anderson scripts, and every episode of Seinfeld without once cracking a genuine smile. He communicates exclusively through cryptic voicemails and appears at stranger’s parties like a forest spirit of comedic timing. A sitcom survivor and patron saint of not trying too hard, he exists to remind us: comedy dies when you start explaining it.
