“She Meant to Say It in ‘Just Us,’ But It Went to ‘All Hands.'”
Marketing assistant Rina Kim will go down in company Slack history after she meant to send “Ugh, David is the human version of printer jam” to her private coworker thread–only to post it in the 47-member company-wide channel labeled “All Hands ????.”
“There was a moment of silence,” Rina said. “Then the emoji storm hit–eyes, popcorn, fire. It was biblical.”
Her boss, David, replied three minutes later with a PDF attachment titled “Let’s Talk Performance.”
The message has since been screenshot and framed in three break rooms. A version of it is now available on mugs and throw pillows at the company store.
Though fired within 24 hours, Rina became a folk hero among disgruntled middle managers everywhere. Her LinkedIn views skyrocketed. A startup offered her a position titled “Director of Unfiltered Honesty.”
She’s now launching an etiquette training course: *Ctrl+Z For the Soul*, featuring modules like “Tone Matters (Unless You’re Right)” and “Reacting with GIFs in Hostile Environments.”
David has changed his Slack avatar to a picture of an actual printer jam.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
