“Silicate: A Love Story” set for 2026 Sundance premiere
Space Rock Lands Film Deal, Demands Creative Control
In a move that further blurs the line between Hollywood and the Kuiper Belt, Meteor-X has signed with Creative Artists Agency and will star in a forthcoming A24 feature titled “Silicate: A Love Story.” The indie film follows the emotional journey of a lonely waitress (Anya Taylor-Joy) who falls in love with a mostly-silent space object. Directed by Greta Gerwig and scored by Phoebe Bridgers, the film has already generated Oscar buzz–mostly because the meteor refuses to do press. Critics describe it as “Terrence Malick meets geology,” while conservative bloggers are furious the rock is gender nonconforming. A24 said in a statement, “This is peak cinema. And yes, it has subtitles for the meteor’s energy.”
