Untrained Support Peacocks
“She’s Not Just a Bird. She’s My Therapist with Plumage.”
A Delta flight from Atlanta to Portland was delayed 73 minutes after passenger Elijah Jarr insisted on bringing aboard his unregistered emotional support peacock, Delilah, whom he described as “a grounded queen with aura-sensing tail feathers.” Chaos ensued after Delilah strutted down the aisle and perched on the exit row, hissing at anyone who questioned her legroom entitlement.
“She knows when someone has unresolved trauma,” Elijah said, stroking her neck. “Also, she hates turbulence and Geminis.”
Flight attendants cited multiple violations, including “emotional shedding” and “passenger intimidation via majesty.” One elderly woman fainted when Delilah extended her full tail in what Elijah called “a blessing of visual grandeur.”
Passengers began choosing sides. A couple in 12C started chanting “Let the bird fly!” while others demanded the peacock be stuffed into an overhead bin or rebooked as cargo.
Negotiations broke down after Delilah attempted to peck open the complimentary snack basket and flung a biscotti like a boomerang.
Eventually, Elijah and Delilah were deplaned to applause and several Instagram Stories. Elijah claims he will sue under the “Aviary Emotional Equivalency Act of 2021,” which he insists is real.
Delilah is now an influencer. Her first collab? Weighted blankets and bird-safe essential oils.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
