Revenge Crafting
“He Took My Heart. I Took His Streaming Privileges.”
After a particularly messy breakup involving kombucha, passive-aggressive Spotify playlists, and one stolen hoodie, 29-year-old yarn artisan Catie Holloway decided to channel her heartbreak into something creative: revenge crafting. Her weapon of choice? Crochet.
The result was a handmade throw blanket with her ex’s Netflix password stitched in cursive across every square–then posted to Etsy and Reddit under the name *Closure Cozy.*
“I didn’t want to just block him,” Catie said. “I wanted to warm the public and ruin his recommendations algorithm.”
The post went viral. Thousands shared photos of themselves wrapped in the blanket while binge-watching *Bridgerton*. One woman said it made her feel “empowered and weirdly into revenge textiles.”
Netflix declined to comment, but the account’s watch history now includes three documentaries about yarn crimes and one Danish revenge drama.
Crafting therapists say this is part of a growing trend called “emotional fiber warfare.” Other examples include scented breakup candles called “You’ll Miss This Musk” and macramé voodoo keychains.
Catie is now accepting commissions for personalized petty projects, including “shade scarves” and “ex-boyfriend pot holders.”
She says it’s the healthiest relationship she’s had in years. “I’ve never felt so emotionally swaddled.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
