Ghosted by Therapist

“She Said We Were Making Progress. Then She Just… Vanished Like My Father.”

Rachel Mendez, 34, was halfway through trauma-processing worksheets when her therapist of eight months stopped responding to texts, canceled their session via emoji, and removed her Psychology Today profile. “She ghosted me during my abandonment issues module,” Rachel said. “It was like healing inception.”

Rachel isn’t alone. She discovered an online forum–*Shrink Rapt*–where clients share tales of vanishing therapists, abrupt ‘rebranding sabbaticals,’ and spiritual awakenings that occurred conveniently during billing cycles.

The forum’s most popular post? “She Said I Was Projecting, Then Blocked My Number.”

Experts warn that the increase in therapy ghosting may correlate with burnout, digital detachment, or therapists becoming Reiki-certified and disappearing into the desert.

Rachel’s path to recovery included scream journaling, emotionally violent yoga, and writing a passive-aggressive Yelp review titled “She Cured Me of Trust.”

“Now I write letters to her ghost,” Rachel says. “Sometimes I burn them. Sometimes I mail them to her ex-clinic with glitter and coupons for boundaries.”

The ghosting event has become part of Rachel’s personality. She performs a one-woman show titled *Unresolved Transference: The Musical*, featuring original songs like “Silent Treatment Sonata” and “The Bill Comes Even When You Don’t.”

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.

By Jack Handey

Jack Handey was born in the smallest town in Arizona, a place so forgotten by cartographers that locals had to mail postcards from the next county just to prove they existed. Growing up surrounded by tumbleweeds and a one-room schoolhouse that doubled as a post office, Jack developed a knack for finding absurdity in everyday life. His first audience was a group of cattle, who reportedly laughed harder than some late-night crowds. He left town with a notebook full of surreal one-liners and returned years later as a cult hero, known for his off-kilter “Deep Brain” that made Live Tonight Comedy a stranger, funnier place. Audiences describe him as “the wisdom of a desert sage filtered through a cracked cactus.” Today, Handey remains the pride of Arizona’s smallest town, proof that even the tiniest dots on the map can produce the biggest laughs.
