Closet Minimalists
“I Believe in Simplicity–But Make It Mysterious.”
Self-described aesthetic purist Gavin Roswell has declared himself a “closet minimalist,” owning only 117 identical black t-shirts, three pairs of jeans, and a single velvet cape “for formal flair and existential declarations.” Friends say Gavin’s wardrobe looks like the backstage of a goth interpretive dance recital or a Steve Jobs hologram cosplay convention.
“It’s not a fashion statement,” Gavin said. “It’s a rejection of consumerism, choice fatigue, and laundry variety.”
His t-shirts are folded in rows, labeled “Monday Angst,” “Tuesday Shadow,” and “Thursday Numb.” The velvet cape hangs in a spotlighted glass case labeled *Break in Case of Metaphysical Emergency.*
Gavin’s TikTok account, *Threadbare Philosopher,* has gained 200K followers, mostly for videos where he dramatically zips hoodies while reciting Camus.
Roommates have filed formal complaints about the cape, citing “unearned grandeur” and “spontaneous Gregorian chanting.”
Fashion experts call Gavin’s approach “aggressively curated apathy.” Retailers report a surge in bulk black tee sales and confused inquiries about “existential cloaks.”
He now offers online courses titled *Decluttering Your Soul Through Monochrome,* and a TEDx talk is rumored to be in development: “Velvet and Void: The Minimalist’s Inner Drama.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
