Elton John Remains Silent, Danza Remains Confused

At a local karaoke bar in Milwaukee, an unsuspecting patron turned a power ballad into a sitcom tribute when he confidently belted out “Hold Me Closer, Tony Danza” instead of the correct “tiny dancer.” Witnesses describe the moment as “musical madness meets nostalgic malfunction.”

“I’ve always loved that song,” said 38-year-old Dave Rigsby. “I figured it was a love letter to the guy from *Who’s the Boss?* It made emotional sense.”

The crowd erupted into cheers, either due to alcohol, irony, or long-suppressed love for Tony Danza. One audience member cried and whispered, “That’s what it always sounded like to me.”

Experts say this is a common phenomenon called Lyric Drift Syndrome, where listeners convert poetic verses into pop culture stew. Other common examples include “There’s a bathroom on the right” (instead of “bad moon on the rise”) and “Sweet dreams are made of cheese.”

Bar owner Sheila Newman has since declared every Thursday “Misheard Karaoke Night.” Prizes are awarded for best lyrical invention, most emotionally unstable falsetto, and loudest refusal to read the screen.

Tony Danza himself weighed in on social media, tweeting, “I feel held.” Elton John’s team has yet to respond but reportedly added another deadbolt to their legal office door.

Rigsby has since become a local legend. He now hosts monthly events under the brand “Lyrical Interpretations & Lasagna.” Tony Danza is expected to appear in hologram form.

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
