Wi-Fi Name Wars
“He Changed His Router Name to ‘TryKnockingFirst’–So I Responded With ‘StopBorrowingMyHose.'”
Residents of Maplewood Lane have ditched polite conversations and lawn signs in favor of a modern battleground: their Wi-Fi network names. What started with a cheeky “FBI Surveillance Van” turned into a community-wide naming war that includes signals like “YourCatPoopedAgain” and “GarageBandIsntMusic.”
“I haven’t spoken to Doris in months,” said Brad from Unit 3B. “But I know her political views and her feelings about my wind chimes.”
The HOA intervened, but their router was hacked and renamed “HOA = Haters Of Affection.”
Things escalated when someone installed a new signal labeled “TellYourTeenToStopSmokingInTheShed.” The teen in question responded with “ShedLife4Eva.”
Now local teens host weekly bets on whose signal gets banned first. Bets are placed through “WiFiCasino69.”
A truce was nearly reached when a new network appeared called “Let’sBeNeighbors.” It was immediately followed by “NeverMindUrTrashBinsSmell.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
