Pet Dating Apps

“She Said She Was a Golden Retriever. She Was a Ferret in a Wig.”

PawMe™, the latest app in interspecies tech innovation, promised to revolutionize pet friendships with Tinder-style swiping for animal companionship. But the beta test in Austin, Texas turned into a fur-fueled fiasco after several incidents of identity fraud, emotional manipulation, and one guinea pig stalker.

“My dachshund swiped right on what he thought was a Rhodesian Ridgeback,” said user Amanda Stern. “They met at the park. It was a possum with confidence.”

The app, which allows pets to “approve” matches by booping the screen, uses AI to predict compatibility based on tail wag angles and “bark tone chemistry.”

Problems emerged quickly. One labradoodle experienced “extreme heartbreak and bed-wetting” after being ghosted by a basset hound influencer named Bark Ruffalo.

In the app’s most high-profile scandal, a tabby cat named Miss Fifi posed as a toy poodle to seduce 17 Pomeranians, leading to a class-action fur complaint and emotional support biscuit litigation.

App developers say it’s a learning process. “We underestimated the drama of the dog park,” said CTO Jenna Lin. “Also, cats are absolute manipulators.”

PawMe is now in damage control mode, rolling out a “verified paws only” program and new settings like “just sniffing around.”

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.

By Jessi Klein

Jessi Klein was born in Houston, Texas, where sarcasm is considered a local sport right after football and brisket competitions. She later packed her humor into a suitcase and carried it to Columbia University, graduating with a degree in English that she has since used to roast everyone from network executives to nosy neighbors. A stand-up comedian with a knack for dissecting modern life’s awkward contradictions, Klein has written and produced for some of the sharpest comedy shows on television, blending her Lone Star roots with big-city satire. At Bohiney.com, she thrives as both a satirical journalist and cultural commentator, skewering politics, relationships, and consumer culture with the precision of a surgeon wielding a rubber chicken. Her comedy straddles irony and absurdity, always leaving audiences laughing while secretly nodding in agreement. With Texan grit and Ivy League wit, Klein’s EEAT bio writes itself.
