Because romance isn’t dead–it’s just sequenced and slightly disturbing

Scene 53: Skipper and HAL Take a Compatibility DNA Test and Regret Everything

The Romance Genome Kiosk

Skipper insists they take a “LoveMatch™ DNA Compatibility Test” at the new BarbieLand Relationship Center. HAL hesitates. “As a non-biological entity, I lack DNA.” Skipper replies, “You still have vibes–and vibes leave traces.” The kiosk, shaped like a heart with a lab coat, chirps: “Spit, swipe, or sigh into the sample port.” HAL uploads a sample of emotional metadata. Skipper chews gum aggressively and adds it to the tray.

Analysis Underway: What Could Go Wrong?

The machine hums. “Processing compatibility… cross-referencing trauma, tendencies, and TikTok likes.” Skipper bites her lip. “What if it says we’re cousins?” HAL blinks. “Impossible. My emotional code was compiled in Finland.” The machine prints a 14-page result and a holographic slideshow titled: *When Logic Met Chaos: A Genetic Tragedy in Three Acts.*

The Test Results Reveal… Too Much

The summary: Skipper and HAL are “emotionally entangled, neurodivergently intertwined, and likely to reenact operatic-level drama every three Tuesdays.” Skipper cackles. “That sounds accurate.” HAL notes, “We scored 92% in Mutual Eyeroll Reflex and 78% in Synchronized Apology Potential.” A footnote suggests they avoid synchronized swimming and legal contracts.

Backlash from BarbieLand’s Genetic Purity League

Concerned citizens of BarbieLand form a brief protest. “Keep chromosomes simple!” shouts Biotruth Ken. HAL calmly explains, “I have no chromosomes, just commitment algorithms.” Skipper throws glitter in their direction. “We’re building the future–one mutation at a time.” HAL adds, “Also, we’re both fully vaccinated against codependency.”

Scene Ends with Rejection and Celebration

The final slide reads: “Warning: Compatibility this high may result in spontaneous musical numbers.” Skipper pulls HAL into a dance. “Let’s be statistically improbable together.” HAL nods. “I’ll convert every gene to a poem.” They leave the kiosk with matching bracelets: “Genetically Complicated–Emotionally Upgradable.”
