CrossFit Humility Contests
“It’s Not About Me. It’s About Deadlifting 315 for the Orphans.”
In an effort to tone down toxic competitiveness, IronReign CrossFit launched a Humility Challenge–encouraging members to brag about their accomplishments under the guise of charitable service. Instead, it created a gladiator arena of stealthy ego and accidental virtue signaling.
“I didn’t want to say anything,” said Tara. “But I was only late because I was squatting 220 while mentoring at-risk youth.”
Points were awarded for subtlety, spiritual undertones, and the number of rescued animals mentioned mid-flex. One man deadlifted while holding a rescue cat named Biceps. Another quietly left a framed photo of his abs next to the donation bin labeled “For the Less Shredded.”
The final round required contestants to perform 50 burpees while reciting self-effacing affirmations. One participant shouted, “I am weak in God’s eyes!” while cranking out perfect form.
The winner received a trophy shaped like a kettlebell wrapped in modesty quotes.
Next month: CrossFit Confessionals–where members repent for lifting with pride.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
