Bibi the Goat Lands Memoir Deal, Three-Picture Option with A24
By Darcy Lin, Animal Talent & Emerging Icons Reporter
She headbutted a drone, bit off a keffiyeh, and chewed through geopolitical allegory like it was breakfast hay. Now Bibi the Goat, the breakout star of Netflix’s Hogan’s Hostages, is stepping into her own solo arc: a memoir deal, podcast franchise, and A24 development slate so bold, it would make even Werner Herzog blink.
Bibi’s forthcoming memoir, “Bleating Edge: My Life Beneath Gaza,” has been acquired by Penguin Random House in a bidding war that allegedly involved three editors, one Mossad asset, and a donkey with a podcast.
From Set Goat to Set Icon
Bibi, known for her stoic stares and terrifyingly accurate scene timing, has been hailed by critics as “a four-legged commentary on surveillance states.” In Hogan’s Hostages, she appears as both comic relief and plot disruptor, with one Variety reviewer noting, “Her mere presence adds gravitas, chaos, and mild danger.”
WME confirmed they signed Bibi earlier this week, describing her as “post-language, post-human, post-SAG.”
“She doesn’t chew the scenery. She dismantles it with spiritual intent,” said literary agent Eliza Frown. “And she’s got great teeth.”
Memoir or Psy-Op?
Early leaked excerpts of Bleating Edge suggest a blend of tell-all memoir, postcolonial goat manifesto, and dreamlike poetry. Chapter titles include:
- “The Smell of Drones at Dawn”
- “UN Observers and Other Chew Toys”
- “How I Headbutted Patriarchy Into a Wall”
The book is being ghostwritten by Yitzhak Ben-Mansour, a poet-turned-diplomatic ghostwriter who once translated Julian Assange’s dreams into slam poetry.
Ben-Mansour calls the project, “raw, real, and surprisingly vegan.”
A24’s Goat-Led Trilogy
A24 has already optioned Bibi’s memoir for a three-picture deal:
- “Goat in the Machine” — A surrealist thriller about a livestock surveillance state.
- “Tunnel Season” — A dramedy about a goat who joins an underground resistance and becomes an influencer.
- “Bleat Me at the Checkpoint” — A genre-defying musical where Bibi plays every role.
A24 released a concept poster featuring a single goat eye and the tagline: “You Thought She Was Just a Prop.”
Merch, Movement, and More
The memoir rollout includes a capsule clothing line (Bleatwear), a signature line of mineral-infused chewing blocks, and a social impact initiative: “Goats Not Guns,” which offers conflict-resolution workshops hosted by livestock.
Critics are divided:
- New York Times: “A necessary bleat in the silence of modern satire.”
- Fox News: “Literal goat propaganda.”
- Teen Vogue: “She’s the moment. And possibly a Marxist.”
What’s Next for Bibi?
Sources close to the goat say she’s been eyeing a directorial debut, possibly in a non-verbal short about exile, chewing, and rebirth.
For now, she remains elusive. When approached by this reporter, Bibi simply turned, exhaled, and walked into a fog machine.
That’s our girl, said Feigenbaum, watching her go. One hoof in the resistance. One hoof in the craft.
Hogan’s Hostages is now streaming. Bibi’s memoir, “Bleating Edge,” drops this fall in hardcover, audiobook (voiced by Tilda Swinton), and hand-scrawled parchment for activist bookstores.
