Tiny House Regrets

“We Wanted Less Space. We Didn’t Realize It Meant Less Dignity.”

Self-described minimalists Avery and Jade Downs moved into a 150-square-foot tiny house to “declutter their lives and align with their values.” Within two weeks, Jade had an emotional breakdown inside a closet that doubles as the bed, pantry, and meditation nook.

“We found out the composting toilet vents directly into the spice rack,” said Avery, who now avoids cinnamon entirely.

Their slow cooker, once stored proudly on an open shelf, now lives ominously on the toilet tank–having become both kitchen staple and bath-time companion.

“We shower next to legumes,” Jade whispered. “Our house smells like chili and surrender.”

The couple documents their experience on TikTok under the handle @LessHouseMoreCry, where followers vote weekly on what should be sacrificed for space–last week, the toaster. This week, sanity.

Their next move? A slightly bigger home with separate areas for food and hygiene. Possibly even a door.

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.

By Jack Handey

Jack Handey was born in the smallest town in Arizona, a place so forgotten by cartographers that locals had to mail postcards from the next county just to prove they existed. Growing up surrounded by tumbleweeds and a one-room schoolhouse that doubled as a post office, Jack developed a knack for finding absurdity in everyday life. His first audience was a group of cattle, who reportedly laughed harder than some late-night crowds. He left town with a notebook full of surreal one-liners and returned years later as a cult hero, known for his off-kilter “Deep Brain” that made Live Tonight Comedy a stranger, funnier place. Audiences describe him as “the wisdom of a desert sage filtered through a cracked cactus.” Today, Handey remains the pride of Arizona’s smallest town, proof that even the tiniest dots on the map can produce the biggest laughs.
