Public Proposal Rejections
“She Said No at the Burrito Stand. But the Jazz Hands Continued.”
When Gavin Pruitt orchestrated a flash mob proposal in the middle of the Mall of East Vista’s food court, he didn’t expect his girlfriend, Monica, to say “absolutely not” between bites of teriyaki chicken. But she did–and the dance kept going anyway.
“I had no idea this was coming,” Monica later told reporters. “He brought in 16 strangers with glitter top hats. We were just supposed to pick up shoes at JCPenney.”
The troupe–hired via Craigslist–continued their routine, unaware of the rejection, twirling past the stunned audience while Gavin stood frozen in heartbreak, holding a ring and half a churro.
One dancer attempted a solo flip near a sobbing Gavin and declared, “The show must go on!”
Footage of the moment went viral. TikTok dubbed it #ChoreographedTragedy. Spotify added the background song, *Marry You* by Bruno Mars, to a playlist titled *No Means Jazz.*
Monica reportedly fled through Hot Topic. Gavin has since issued a statement: “Next time I’ll just text.”
The dancers have booked a reality series called *Proposed and Exposed.*
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
