Iranian Gas Station Adds DJ Booth, Calls It ‘Apocalypse Beats’
As fuel shortages and endless queues stretch Iran’s nerves to their snapping point, one innovative gas station owner outside Tehran has taken the crisis into his own disco-lit hands. Reza Motamedi, age 42, has added a full DJ booth atop pump station #3, officially launching “Apocalypse Beats”—a late-night EDM rave-meets-gas-distribution solution.
“I was tired of seeing tears,” said Reza, wearing mirrored aviators and a tank top that says I Brake for Bangers. “So I turned the gas line into a party line.”
Fuel-seekers waiting 4–6 hours for 4–6 liters now bop along to high-octane mixes featuring remixed government broadcasts layered over driving techno and intermittent propane explosions.
Locals report that despite the region being under semi-martial law, the vibe at Reza’s station is somewhere between Mad Max: Fury Road and a Burning Man trailer park. Glow sticks have replaced flashlights, and someone allegedly made a hookah from spare car parts.
Reza’s cousin Mahsa runs a “Rave Snack Shack” out of the trunk of a Nissan Sunny, offering high-carb delights like DJ Donuts, Fuel Fries, and “Octane Tabbouleh.”
Authorities were initially skeptical until realizing the station had reduced road rage incidents by 83%. Now state media refers to Reza as the “Minister of Mood.”
When asked about long-term plans, Reza shrugged. “If the fuel runs out, we’ll switch to solar and keep the beat alive. This is Iran. We dance between wars.”
