Ernst & Young (EY) unveiled its new corporate philosophy this week: “Disrupt Yourself Before Someone Else Does,” a motivational threat disguised as a slogan. In a dazzling keynote filled with laser shows and suspiciously happy consultants, EY promised to turn every audit into a transformative journey of self-discovery. The firm’s new “Audit Yoga” initiative requires clients to perform mindfulness exercises while reconciling liabilities. Meanwhile, EY launched a mentoring app called “EYspire,” where junior analysts receive automated push notifications reminding them to smile harder and think bigger, usually during existential moments like printer jams. Critics are concerned about the firm’s new “Agile Ethics” program, which teaches that right and wrong are ‘fluid concepts dependent on quarterly targets.’ EY’s leadership announced that in the future, performance reviews would be conducted via interpretive dance to promote emotional intelligence KPIs. Meanwhile, internal surveys show 73% of EY staff confuse “synergy’ with “Stockholm Syndrome,’ but report high satisfaction rates after free pizza Fridays. As one EY partner put it, “We aren’t just creating reports. We’re building immersive life experiences where numbers meet your soul and invoice you for it. Also, your soul might need to be GAAP compliant.”
