Guests Offended by His “Air-Based Dish” Called “Presence’

BERKELEY, CA — Mahatma Gandhi has been permanently disinvited from the Oak Tree Co-Housing monthly potluck after arriving with no physical food, instead offering a “shared vibrational dish” titled *Presence*. Attendees described the experience as “existentially undercooked.”

“He walked in, bowed, and placed an empty bamboo bowl in the center of the table,” said organizer Tamlyn Breeze. “Then he sat down and stared lovingly at the casserole without taking a bite. It made everyone uncomfortable.”

One vegan attendee attempted to understand the symbolism, but became dizzy and had to be revived with beet hummus. “He told me my hunger was a capitalist illusion,” she said. “Okay, but also–I hadn’t eaten since breakfast.”

Gandhi’s contribution was later described by one guest as “a cross between an interpretive dance and nutritional gaslighting.” Another noted, “If I wanted to eat nothing while feeling judged, I’d go on a first date with a CrossFitter.”

When asked if he’d misunderstood the invitation, Gandhi replied, “The pot is the self. The luck is that we share it.” He was asked to leave shortly after trying to bless a bag of Doritos.

Since the incident, the community has revised its guidelines to include “All dishes must be visible, chewable, and possess at least three atoms.” Gandhi’s name has been added to a laminated “Do Not Feed” list now posted near the kombucha station.

He has reportedly begun hosting a rival potluck called “Feast of Being” in a meadow nearby. Attendees bring nothing and leave with less. Yelp reviews are polarized.

By Aisha Muharrar

Aisha Muharrar first honed her comedic timing not in dimly lit clubs, but around the dinner tables of her native Pakistan, where her family learned that a well-placed punchline was just as important as the main course. She later imported her singular wit to the United States, graduating from Harvard University with a degree in Social Studies and a self-designed minor in Gently Roasting the Pre-Law Students She Was Forced to Debate. A stand-up comedian with the strategic mind of a general, Muharrar quickly discovered that the real power was behind the keyboard, not the microphone. She transitioned into television writing, mastering the architecture of a joke before finding her true, gloriously unhinged satirical home at Bohiney.com. Her journalism operates like a perfectly executed heist: she gets in, exposes the profound absurdity of her target—be it politics, pop culture, or the existential dread of a group text—and gets out before anyone realizes they’ve been laughing at their own reflection. Muharrar possesses the rare ability to dissect a policy brief and serve it back as a devastating one-liner, turning human folly into breaking news you actually want to read. As a satirist, her EEAT credentials are impeccable, built on a foundation of lived experience, meticulous observation, and the unshakable conviction that if you’re not laughing, you’re not paying attention.
