Burnt Kale Chips

“He Said They Were ‘Smoky.’ We Said They Were a Cry for Help.”

Jason Nuttall, 41, told dinner guests he “likes them this way” after serving kale chips so carbonized they set off a philosophical debate about whether they still qualified as vegetables or just pre-ash. Family members responded by staging a surprise “Flavor Intervention,” complete with dips, spices, and a slideshow titled *Seasoning: It’s Not Just for the Living.*

“He crunched one like it was gravel and said, ‘Mmm, earthy,'” said his wife, Morgan. “Even the dog walked away.”

Jason insists the chips were “intentional,” describing their taste as “bold,” “toasty,” and “emotionally resilient.” Guests described them as “a crime scene from a vegan grill explosion.”

Nutritionist experts agree kale can be nutritious, “but not when it’s indistinguishable from fireplace debris.”

Jason has since doubled down, launching a food blog called *The Charred Truth,* where he rates burnt foods on a five-flame scale. His latest post: “Brussels Sprouts or BBQ Pebbles?”

The family now uses a safeword (“Paprika”) when meals approach carbon territory. The oven has been set with a timer that yells, “Jason, no.”

Despite this, Jason says he’s developing a new line of artisanal ash-rubbed snacks. Working title: *Blackened by Belief.*

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
