Poorly Timed Fireworks
“They Said It Was for the 4th. But It Was the 2nd. And Also Midnight.”
Residents of Whispering Pines were jolted awake at 12:03 a.m. on July 2nd by an impromptu fireworks show orchestrated by local dad and licensed grill enthusiast Barry Thistle, who claimed he “got excited and lost track of the calendar.”
“I thought it was already the 4th. I blame leap years and daylight saving,” Barry explained while igniting a Roman candle in flip-flops.
The fireworks, labeled “Freedom Inferno,” set off three car alarms, one minor brush fire, and a German shepherd-led uprising involving chew toys and protest howling.
Neighbors emerged in robes. One woman used the chaos to announce her separation: “While we’re all here–Carl and I are done.”
The police arrived with sparklers and confusion. The Homeowners Association issued a 47-page letter titled *Patriotism vs. Property Damage.*
Barry is now only allowed to celebrate holidays 48 hours late. His next event? “Belated Valentine’s with Firecrackers and Apologies.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
