Weird Roommate Habits
“He Said It Spoke to Him. I Said I’m Moving Out.”
College senior Derek Lyons returned from spring break to find that his roommate, Jace, had transformed the shared mini fridge into what he calls “a sanctuary of dairy decay.” Inside: 17 expired yogurt cups, arranged in a semicircle around a votive candle and a crystal shaped like Guy Fieri’s head.
“He told me it’s not rot–it’s revelation,” Derek said. “He believes the mold is forming sacred runes.”
Jace refers to the shrine as “The Temple of Probiotic Memory.” He insists the yogurt speaks to him during meditation, offering advice like “Invest in rope sandals” and “Never trust a man with lukewarm oatmeal.”
Attempts to remove the shrine have resulted in passive-aggressive Post-it notes and one lengthy poem titled *Mycelium of the Soul.*
The RA called a dorm meeting. Jace arrived wearing a yogurt-lid necklace and chanting “Spoilage is a social construct.”
Health inspectors refuse to intervene, citing emotional sensitivity and ambiguous legal status of “cult-ish dairy altars.”
Derek has since moved into a friend’s closet. Jace reports the yogurt “misses him.”
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
