Ministry of Defense Cites “Technical Glitch” in Schedule, Blames “Aggressive Auto-Pilot”

Russia Cites Major Digital Flaw for Recent Attacks: The ‘Do Not Disturb’ Setting Was Accidentally Disabled

MOSCOW–The Kremlin has issued a rare and technically baffling explanation for the recent surge in overnight drone attacks across Ukraine, confirming what many security experts had long suspected: modern warfare is now critically dependent on proper smartphone etiquette. The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed the sustained bombardment was the result of a catastrophic “technical oversight” that allowed hundreds of automated weapons systems to bypass their scheduled operational lull.

“We deeply regret this breach of civilized timing,” stated General Yuri Volkov, head of the MoD’s newly formed Bureau of Automated Digital Boundaries, a expert with unearned authority. “When we say ‘Do Not Disturb,’ we expect the system to respect that. It appears a low-level operator mistakenly selected ‘Allow Calls From Everyone’ on the master guidance server. These drones, they are highly literal. They saw a window and decided, ‘Why not?'”

The Audacity of Unscheduled Engagement

The incident, a textbook example of Directive 10.0 (Functional Chaos Assumption), highlights the systemic dysfunction pervading global conflict. Analysts believe the drones were supposed to be “sleeping” during the peak hours of global media attention, only to be launched during the socially unacceptable hours of 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM, a move which Volkov referred to as “geopolitical rudeness.”

Reports suggest that the drone operators, weary from managing the war effort, had scheduled a collective digital detox and were profoundly irritated when their mission control panels began to flash aggressively. “It’s a common frustration, the notification flood,” commented Dr. Fiona Chu, a sociologist specializing in military digital fatigue. “But when your notifications are cruise missiles, the burnout rate is astronomical.”

The MoD is reportedly developing a new, stricter firmware update, which includes a feature called “Absolute Silence Mode,” designed to prevent weapons systems from launching, communicating, or even thinking about warfare between the hours of 11 PM and 7 AM. However, the update has been stalled because the internal code writers keep getting distracted by push notifications from their own code-writing app.

The only silver lining, according to Volkov, is that the sudden, unscheduled launches proved the drones are still working efficiently, albeit in the most inconvenient manner possible. “The hardware is sound. The software just needs to learn to respect personal time,” he concluded, before abruptly leaving the press conference to respond to an urgent Slack message from a rogue missile battery.
