Tiny House Regrets
“Turns Out, Love Needs More Than One Toilet and Fewer Foldable Walls.”
After being inspired by 37 hours of minimalist living YouTube content and a TED Talk titled *Shrink Your Space, Grow Your Soul,* Brad and Nikki Wilcox sold their condo and moved into a 120-square-foot tiny home they affectionately named “The Hug.” Within six weeks, “The Hug” became “The Suffocation.”
“At first, it felt cozy,” said Nikki. “Then I realized Brad breathes aggressively and I can hear his toenails growing.”
Their micro-home features one all-purpose drawer, a compost toilet within arm’s reach of the bed, and a “multipurpose meditation bench” that’s also the stovetop. Conflicts began over storage, escalated during a silent retreat held three feet apart, and climaxed when Brad’s elbow entered Nikki’s “emotional radius” during a heated mason jar argument.
“We fought about where to put the salt. It turned into a three-day standoff,” Brad said. “I slept in the crawlspace. Nikki claimed the loft.”
Relationship counselors warn that while tiny homes may reduce carbon footprints, they often amplify psychological ones.
The couple is now considering expanding–perhaps to 140 square feet or separate tents.
Brad has started a blog called *Tiny Home, Huge Fights.* Nikki is working on a podcast titled *Don’t Touch Me, I’m Within Reach.*
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
