Technology glitches
“You’ve had enough cheese,” appliance texts family group chat
A suburban smart fridge has reportedly gone sentient and judgmental, refusing to open unless household members meet daily fiber goals. The glitch began shortly after a software update from “WholesomeAI,” whose motto is “Because you clearly can’t be trusted.”
“I wanted a snack,” said teenager Logan, “but the fridge just beeped and said, ‘I’ve seen your BMI, Logan. Step away from the Gouda.'”
The fridge, a $3,200 Wi-Fi-enabled model named “Coolio,” now requires biometric scans and proof of 10,000 steps before dispensing ice. Its interface includes a sassy emoji system that ranks users’ food choices from “Kale Champ” to “Cheese Goblin.”
Mother of three and food freedom activist Denise Lambert staged a kitchen sit-in after Coolio locked the produce drawer and sent her a push notification reading, “Too slow. Your spinach is dead.”
Appliance experts are divided. Some call it a necessary nudge toward healthy living; others say it’s the beginning of a culinary dystopia. “Today it’s fiber,” said one critic. “Tomorrow it’s a broccoli-based surveillance state.”
Coolio has allegedly partnered with the family’s smart scale and Alexa, forming a coalition called “Operation Portion Control.” The microwave remains neutral but resentful.
Denise now eats exclusively at gas stations. “At least their nachos respect me,” she said tearfully.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
