Fantasy Football Obsession
“My Kids Haven’t Seen Me in Weeks, but I’m Leading the Waiver Wire.”
Bradley “Coach Bro” Duncan has taken his fantasy football league so seriously that he’s now unemployed, living in his brother’s garage, and banned from three sports bars for “excessive sideline screaming during commercials.” Despite losing everything but his ESPN password, Bradley insists it’s all worth it.
“This isn’t a game,” he said. “It’s a lifestyle. It’s spreadsheets, faith, and the cold, hard hands of destiny.”
His team–“Gronk If You’re Horny”–has a 9-1 record and has led Bradley to believe he is qualified for real NFL strategy consulting. He’s written letters to all 32 teams offering unsolicited advice, including a 14-page rant titled “Let Tight Ends Run Free.”
Bradley tracks 47 player stats hourly, dreams in red zone percentages, and once shouted “HOLD THE LINE” at a kindergarten soccer game.
His wife left after he drafted their anniversary weekend for bye-week planning. His job let him go after he ran the company fantasy league “like a despotic wizard king.”
Still, he persists. “This is what greatness costs,” he said, while drafting from a folding chair inside a Costco sample aisle.
His kids recently drew him a Father’s Day card showing him clutching a phone and yelling at a kicker. He hung it above his draft board.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
