Trump’s 2026 State of the Union Speech: The Steak of the Union, Well Done, No Sauce
A totally accurate, absolutely official, possibly improved transcript of the Trump 2026 State of the Union speech — as remembered by a guy in the cafeteria who was mostly there for the meatloaf.
Five Quick Observations Before the Applause Even Starts
The State of the Union address is the only event where 535 adults clap like trained seals while pretending they are not impressed by the other guy’s yacht. The 2026 edition — delivered February 24 before a joint session of Congress — clocked in at a record-breaking one hour and forty-eight minutes, which is either a presidential address or a very long pre-game show with no actual game.
Every president says “our nation is back” as if America was briefly misplaced behind the couch cushions. Congress has been applauding this exact sentence since 1790, which means the nation has been “back” approximately 236 times and apparently keeps leaving.
Speaker Mike Johnson sat behind the president looking like a substitute teacher who just realized the class brought fireworks. Half the chamber stood up every thirty seconds; the other half sat down like they were practicing political Pilates. Approximately fifty Democratic lawmakers boycotted entirely, which means they missed the Olympic hockey team getting a standing ovation and a 100-year-old Korean War veteran receiving a Medal of Honor — but at least they got a good night’s sleep.
The phrase “my fellow Americans” always sounds like the opening line of a very expensive group therapy session. This year’s session ran nearly two hours. The meatloaf, as always, remained undefeated.
Full Totally Accurate, Absolutely Official, Possibly Doctored Transcript of the Trump 2026 State of the Union Speech
(As reconstructed by a cafeteria journalist with access to questionable notes and an excellent memory for grievance.)
President Trump:
Well, thank you very much, everybody. Thank you. It’s really an honor. A tremendous honor. Speaker Johnson. Vice President Vance. First Lady. Second Lady. All the ladies. The gentlemen. The people who are still deciding. Beautiful crowd. Record crowd. I looked out and I said, wow, that’s a lot of Congress. Some of you I even recognize.
The State of the Union Is: Back. Bigger. And Possibly Taller.
Members of Congress and my fellow Americans, our nation is back. Back like it never left. Bigger. Better. Richer. Stronger. Some are saying taller. I don’t know if that’s medically possible, but we’ll look into it. We’re studying it very strongly. The US Census Bureau has no data on national height, which is frankly a missed opportunity.
When I took office again, people said, “Sir, can it be done?” And I said, “It’s already done. I did it just by walking in.” And that’s leadership. That’s what leadership looks like. Sometimes leadership is just entering a room confidently and rearranging the furniture emotionally. 🪑
Trump Economy 2026: The Lion That Owns Several Casinos
The economy is roaring. It’s not just purring. It’s not just humming. It’s roaring like a lion that owns several casinos. Jobs are up. Wages are up. Even morale is up. I spoke to morale personally. Morale said, “Sir, I feel fantastic.”
Now, the fake news will tell you numbers. They love numbers. They say, “Well actually, Mr. President, according to this chart…” I don’t need a chart. I have instincts. My instincts have better ratings than most cable networks. But let’s talk about the numbers anyway. Because I love numbers. We’ve created millions of jobs. Millions. So many jobs that people are saying, “Please, sir, no more jobs, I’m tired.” That’s a good problem to have. Some countries have the opposite problem. They’re begging for jobs. We’re exporting confidence. We may even tariff the confidence exports. We’re studying it.
Energy Policy: The Sun Called. We Said No.
On energy, we are producing so much energy that the sun called and asked us to slow down. We said no. We’re drilling responsibly. Very responsibly. Some of the most responsible drilling you’ve ever seen. Even the oil is proud to come out of the ground. It’s saying, “Thank you, Mr. President, for believing in me.” 🛢️ The U.S. Energy Information Administration has confirmed that American energy production is at record levels, though it has not yet confirmed whether the oil has expressed gratitude.
Border Security: Now Giving Motivational Speeches
Border security? Stronger than ever. The border is so secure that it has started giving motivational speeches to other borders around the world. They say, “How do you do it?” We say, “Walls, common sense, and really good lighting.” Customs and Border Protection publishes monthly encounter data, none of which mentions the lighting, but we assume it’s excellent.
Foreign Policy: They Stand Later. Trust Him.
And let me tell you about foreign policy. The world respects us again. I walk into a room with world leaders and they say, “There he is.” Some stand. Some don’t. The ones who don’t, stand later. Trust me. We’ve rebuilt alliances. We’ve renegotiated deals. Some of these deals were so bad, you read them and you say, who signed this? And then you look and it’s a signature. You can’t even read it. Terrible penmanship. Very suspicious. The U.S. Department of State is reportedly working on a cursive literacy program for future treaty signings.
Military: Planes That Say “That’s Cute”
Our military is stronger than ever. We have the best equipment. The best planes. Planes that are so advanced they look at other planes and say, “That’s cute.” 🚀 We support our veterans. We love our veterans. We’ve cut red tape. We’ve cut so much red tape that office supply stores are calling us in tears. The Department of Veterans Affairs confirms the red tape reduction, though it remains unclear what office supply stores are doing with all that extra ribbon.
Education: Cursive Is Coming Back (If We Can Find Someone Who Remembers How)
Now, education. We’re bringing back common sense in schools. Children will learn reading, writing, arithmetic. Possibly cursive, if we can find someone who remembers how. The Department of Education is said to be scouring nursing homes for cursive consultants. And we’re making sure that parents have a say. Radical concept. Parents in parenting. Who knew?
Crime, Healthcare, and Inflation: The Trifecta of Tremendous
On crime, we are restoring law and order. The streets are safer. The criminals are confused. They’re saying, “Wait, there are consequences?” Yes. There are. Welcome to reality. Healthcare? We are lowering costs. We are increasing access. We are doing it beautifully. I spoke to a doctor who said, “Sir, patients are smiling more.” The Department of Health and Human Services does not currently track smiles per capita, but we believe they should.
And inflation. Remember inflation? People said it was unstoppable. Like a wild horse. We didn’t just tame the horse. We taught it to do tricks. 🎠 The Consumer Price Index remains the official measure of inflation, though it has yet to document any trick-performing.
Unity: Even the Purple States That Can’t Decide
But I want to talk about unity. Because that’s important. Very important. We may disagree. Some of you disagree very strongly. I can tell. You’re not clapping. That’s okay. I still see you. We’re one country. Red states. Blue states. Even the purple ones that can’t decide. Pew Research has extensively documented American political polarization, none of which has been solved by a standing ovation, but at least we keep trying.
We don’t need to shout at each other. We don’t need to tweet at each other. Although sometimes it’s fun. Very fun. But we need to work together. Congress.gov is available for anyone who wants to see what working together theoretically looks like in legislative form.
Closing the Trump 2026 SOTU: Sequel Energy, Bigger Budget
And to the American people watching at home, maybe in a cafeteria like this one, maybe on your couch, maybe yelling at the screen, I say this: The state of our union is confident. It’s ambitious. It’s determined. It’s a union that wakes up in the morning, looks in the mirror, and says, “You know what? I look pretty good.”
We are not declining. We are not retreating. We are advancing. We are building. We are winning. So much winning that even the word winning is tired. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines “winning” as “achieving victory,” but in 2026, the definition has been expanded to include exhaustion.
And to those who doubted us, who said it couldn’t be done, who wrote very long articles explaining why it was impossible, I say: You underestimated the American spirit. And also me. Mostly me.
In closing, I want to thank every American who works hard, who believes in this country, who loves this country. From the factory floor to the family farm, from the city skyline to the small-town diner where the coffee is always refilled and the opinions are even stronger. ☕
The American story is not over. It’s just getting started again. Sequel energy. Bigger budget. Better soundtrack. God bless you. God bless the United States of America. And somebody please tell morale it’s doing a fantastic job.
Standing ovation from half the room. Seated ovation from the other half. Rep. Al Green was escorted out again. The US men’s Olympic hockey team got a bipartisan standing ovation, proving that gold medals are more unifying than anything in the Constitution. Cafeteria meatloaf remains undefeated.
“It was the political equivalent of a well-done steak at a formal dinner — served with confidence, appreciated by half the table, and met by the other half with the quiet horror of people who ordered something else entirely,” said British comedian Frankie Boyle, who was not in the building but would have said something like this if asked.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigo!
President Donald Trump delivered the 2026 State of the Union address on February 24, 2026, before a joint session of Congress — his first official State of the Union of his second term (his March 2025 joint address was not classified as a formal SOTU). Speaking for a record one hour and forty-eight minutes, Trump covered his economic agenda, immigration policy, foreign policy, and military priorities. Speaker Mike Johnson presided alongside Vice President JD Vance. Approximately fifty Democratic lawmakers boycotted; Rep. Al Green of Texas was escorted from the chamber after holding up a protest sign. Special guests included the gold medal-winning US men’s Olympic hockey team, a 100-year-old Korean War veteran, and the family of the late political activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September 2025. Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger of Virginia delivered the Democratic rebuttal. The speech was described by Trump as covering “so much” — a claim that, at nearly two hours, was at minimum verifiable.
