Liberal Book Club Accidentally Re-Enacts French Revolution Using Cat Memes

SEATTLE, WA — A neighborhood book club originally formed to read The Handmaid’s Tale accidentally initiated a full-blown digital French Revolution last week using nothing but cat memes, rage, and a group chat called “Purr-sist!”

It began innocently, with a meme of Marie Antoinette replaced by a fluffy Persian cat holding cake and the caption: “Let Them Eat Fancy Feast.” From there, chaos descended.

According to eyewitnesses, club president Linda Applebee posted a Canva flyer titled “Guillotine & Chardonnay,” inviting members to bring a charcuterie board and a list of landlords they personally despise.

Within 48 hours, members had stormed a local HOA meeting, demanding “equal patio furniture for all!” dressed in bonnets and Revolutionary War cosplay sourced from Etsy.

“We just wanted to read,” sobbed member Karen Witherspoon. “Now I’m the Madame Defarge of Zillow reviews.”

The club’s signature dish, “Peasant Pâté,” features lentils and resentment. Their anthem? A slowed-down remix of Doja Cat’s “Say So” with guillotine sounds.

A nearby Whole Foods banned the group after they tried to rename the French bread section “The National Baguette Assembly.”

The FBI is investigating whether “Purr-sist!” qualifies as a satirical domestic revolution or just a tragic misunderstanding involving too much rosé and not enough therapy.
