D.C. A CRIME ZONE

TRUMP DECLARES D.C. A CRIME ZONE, SENDS IN TASK FORCE, LEAVES COMMON SENSE BEHIND

By Special Correspondent Fritzy Arbuckle

Bohiney Newsroom – August 2025

“The crime is so bad in D.C., even the pigeons are forming gangs. I saw one steal a sandwich and a congressional aide’s Wi-Fi password.” — A local dad, probably.

If you’ve walked through D.C. lately without being tackled by a federal agent for looking “emotionally suspicious,” then congratulations—you must be invisible, wealthy, or a squirrel. Because according to Donald J. Trump, America’s capital is teetering on the brink of collapse. Not metaphorically. Not spiritually. Literally. Like, “every Starbucks is a war zone” kind of collapse.

Trump’s plan to fix it?

Declare the city a “crime-ridden death trap,” threaten a federal takeover, deploy 17 agencies under a feel-good banner called the “Safe and Beautiful Task Force,” and, while we’re at it, prosecute teenagers as adults because that just sounds strong. It’s like running a daycare with Navy SEALs and calling it “Montessori Freedom Academy.”

THE STATS SAY CRIME IS DROPPING, TRUMP SAYS: “FAKE!”

Despite what the Trump-aligned foghorns are bellowing on Truth Social and Newsmax, violent crime in Washington, D.C., is down 26% from last year. Down. Not sideways. Not “sorta.” Statistically and unequivocally down, like a drunk intern trying to walk past the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in heels.

But the man who once described Baltimore as “rat-infested” and Chicago as “more dangerous than Kabul” isn’t one to let boring things like facts get in the way of a good, fear-based rallying cry.

“I’ve seen people mugged right outside the Smithsonian. Right in front of the Air and Space Museum. Sad. I said, ‘That’s not air OR space, that’s chaos.’”
Donald Trump, probably, at a rally sponsored by Cracker Barrel.

WHO IS BIG BALLS CORISTINE, AND WHY IS HE THE POSTER CHILD FOR A POLICE STATE?

This entire episode kicked off when a man named Edward Coristine, a former tech staffer and DOGE alum (that’s the Department of Government Efficiency, not Elon Musk’s cryptocurrency meme), was carjacked near his own luxury Tesla hoverpod.

Trump immediately leapt into action—not to comfort the victim, but to post a cropped security photo of the assault with the caption: “This is why I’ll save D.C.”

Critics noted that using a crime victim’s trauma for a political stunt is like using your neighbor’s house fire as a campaign ad for your new line of garden hoses. But Trump insisted, “He’s a very important man. Tech guy. Elon-adjacent. Not just a victim—he’s symbolic.”

Weirdly enough, Coristine wasn’t thrilled about being a symbol. He told Politico: “I’d prefer to not be used in a federal power grab, thank you. Also, they spelled my name wrong.”

THE “SAFE AND BEAUTIFUL TASK FORCE” — NOW WITH EXTRA OVERKILL™

The new task force announced by Trump includes the ATF, FBI, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, Transportation Security, and possibly a few ghost hunters from the History Channel. It’s less of a coordinated crime-fighting unit and more like what would happen if The Expendables started enforcing parking violations.

Their first operation? Arresting a 23-year-old smoking weed near Dupont Circle.

“Three officers tackled him before he could even light it,” said one witness. “I thought it was a high-value target. Turns out, it was lemon haze and a knockoff Juul.”

This use of force makes sense when you realize that in Trump’s America, perception is policy. If people believe D.C. is Gotham City, then by God, we’re bringing Batman and five Robins.

PIRRO’S REVENGE: FROM PUNDIT TO PROSECUTOR

Enter Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News judge-turned-U.S. Attorney for D.C. She now has the authority to prosecute everything from violent crime to immigration fraud to someone making fun of Trump’s hair on TikTok.

Confirmed in a 50-45 partisan Senate vote, Pirro is proof that courtroom drama and reality television have finally merged into one long, blurry legal sitcom. Her office released a statement: “We will restore order. We will prosecute crime. And yes, we will put that 14-year-old carjacker behind bars until he can remember cursive.”

Critics say Pirro’s appointment bypassed the usual norms of justice. Supporters say, “She looks like she bites, and that’s what we need.”

EXECUTIVE ORDER, EXECUTIVE BURN

Let’s take a quick break for Civics 101.

Trump claims he’ll “take over” D.C. unless crime improves. But under the Home Rule Act of 1973, only Congress has the authority to override the city’s governance. The President can tweet it, dream it, or say it into a microphone shaped like a cheeseburger, but he cannot legally seize the city by fiat.

That’s like threatening to “personally take over the moon” because your telescope saw a suspicious crater.

But this hasn’t stopped Trump from pushing legislation through House Republicans that would do just that—return D.C. to direct federal control.

“Home rule is out of control,” declared Rep. Tucker Yardley (R–MO), while standing in front of a crime scene photo that turned out to be from The Wire Season 3.

MARIJUANA: THE SMOKING GUN THAT ISN’T

One of the strangest angles in Trump’s D.C. “clean-up” is his focus on marijuana. Weed, pot, devil’s lettuce, ganja—whatever you call it, it’s legal for personal use in D.C. But under Trump’s task force, smoking in public is once again treated like felony karaoke.

“It’s not just pot,” Trump warned. “It’s demoralizing. It’s disrespectful to Lincoln.”

Which is rich coming from a man who once tried to trademark “Truth is God” to sell motivational beef jerky.

LOCK UP THE KIDS!

In a bold and definitely constitutional move, the Trump administration has floated the idea of charging 15-year-olds as adults.

Because the only thing more American than mass incarceration is early mass incarceration.

One proposal, titled the “Teen Accountability Now Act,” would allow prosecutors to treat anyone over the age of 13 who commits a “serious crime” as an adult.

What counts as “serious”? Jaywalking while smirking. Littering with intent. TikTok dances near monuments. Graffiti that criticizes white real estate developers.

“When I was 15, I committed war crimes in Modern Warfare 2,” said one 30-something dad. “Good thing I didn’t live in this timeline.”

D.C. STATEHOOD — BACK ON THE MENU

All this federal meddling has reignited the case for D.C. statehood. If the President can declare your city a disaster zone because a staffer got his crypto-mobile jacked, you might be a colony.

Mayor Muriel Bowser, whose name sounds like either a progressive leader or a Mario Kart villain, said diplomatically: “We welcome cooperation. We do not welcome colonialism.”

Behind closed doors, she’s reportedly thrown at least three mugs labeled “Not Today, White House.”

D.C. voters are responding, too. Petitions for full statehood have surged. Slogans like “Taxation Without Representation Is Still Lame” are back. George Washington’s ghost reportedly sighed in support.

CRIME DATA? NEVER HEARD OF HER

Let’s pause for numbers.

  • Murders down 12% in 2023.

  • Down 14% in 2024.

  • On track for a 20% drop in 2025.

It’s the kind of streak cities dream of. But in Trumpworld, progress is a lie unless it involves a hotel license.

“Just because fewer people are dying doesn’t mean crime is down,” claimed Rep. Barry Q. Flatulence (R–KY), to confused reporters. “We’re talking about vibes.”

SOCIAL MEDIA CIRCUS

On Truth Social, Trump’s posts about “saving D.C.” are sandwiched between photos of steak, fake polls showing him winning 2028 by 147%, and an unfiltered rant about his tan being “genetically optimal.”

Meanwhile, X (formerly Twitter) users responded:

  • @TuckerInMySoup: “Trump to D.C.: Drop the joint or face the Joint Chiefs.”

  • @BougieBastille: “Pretty bold to accuse D.C. of chaos when Mar-a-Lago’s idea of security is a valet with a walkie-talkie.”

  • @GothAbeLincoln: “It’s ‘safe and beautiful’ if you’re inside a limo with five lawyers and diplomatic plates.”

THE IRONY OF BEAUTY

Let’s talk about the “beautiful” part of the Safe and Beautiful Task Force. When Trump says he wants D.C. to be “beautiful,” does he mean clean? Stylish? Lined with unpaid interns posing for Instagram under police drones?

We reached out to Trump’s interior design consultant, who requested anonymity and said: “He wants D.C. to look like a very safe casino in Dubai—but with more marble, more eagles, and fewer socialists.”

REACTION FROM THE LEFT, RIGHT, CENTER, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE

  • Democrats: “Trump is trying to turn Washington into a personal sandbox of authority. We need congressional review—again.”

  • Republicans: “He’s saving the city! Also, can someone Venmo me for dinner?”

  • Libertarians: “See? Told you. The government is always the problem. Even when they try to solve problems.”

  • D.C. Residents: “Do we still have to pay for this circus?”

WHAT THE FUNNY PEOPLE ARE SAYING

“Jeanine Pirro’s running D.C. justice now? Great. So the next legal motion will be filed in ALL CAPS with wine stains.” — Sarah Silverman

“26% drop in crime and they want to bring in the feds? That’s like firing your doctor because your cholesterol improved.” — Jerry Seinfeld

“The Safe and Beautiful Task Force sounds like the name of a drag queen militia.” — Amy Schumer

“Trump said he’d ‘clean up D.C.’ I didn’t know he meant with a Swiffer and seventeen subpoenas.” — Trevor Noah

SATIRICAL CONCLUSION

Trump’s takeover fantasy isn’t about crime. It’s about control. It’s about optics. It’s about turning a city of 700,000 diverse, resilient humans into a political chessboard where he can shout “Checkmate!” even when he’s playing Connect Four.

But D.C. isn’t buying it.

They’re still voting. Still legislating. Still rolling their eyes. And yes, still smoking weed in the park.

Because in America, some rights are worth defending—even if you have to light up to do it.

Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
